Pre Move-in Painting Services
You’ve just bought a new house. Yay! Congrats!!
Everyone is ecstatic, however.. there are expenses coming out the ying-yang. Lawyers fees, a roof repair, a new dishwasher. We hear ya. We understand it’s a cash-tight time, and we’ll do our best to keep everything on budget and on schedule so painting isn’t one more thing adding to the stress of a move.
Let’s take a took at a couple of scenarios.
“We live in Vancouver and we’re moving to Victoria. We just bought a house and need a painter who can work with our realtor to get access and paint it before we move in.”
“I just bought a house in Victoria and take possession two weeks before I move in. Is it worth getting it painted before the furniture arrives?”
Bought a condo, taking possession October 2. Not moving in until October 15th, so empty for 2 weeks. Good time to have it painted. It’s a 2 bed, 900 square feet.
Sound familiar? That’s exactly the situation our Pre-Move-In Painting service is built for. You bought the house, now there’s a small window between getting the keys and moving everything you own into it, and if the walls need painting, that window is the easiest time to get it done.
Bought a condo or a townhome? Both have their own quirks — strata access and elevator booking for one, a stairwell nobody can reach for the other. And if you’re selling a home as well as buying one, see pre-sale painting.

The Best Time to Paint is Before Your Furniture Arrives

You’re Not Just Buying a Paint Job. You’re Buying Certainty.
Before we commit to a schedule, we want to understand:
- Your possession and move-in dates
- How much of the home you want painted
- Which areas matter most
- What repairs or prep are needed
- Whether other trades will be on-site
With that information, we build a realistic plan — one we know we can deliver.
Why Choose Pride Painting for Your Pre-Move-In Paint Project?
There are plenty of painters who can put paint on a wall. For a pre-move-in project, the real question is whether you can trust the company to plan the work properly and communicate when timing matters. Every project starts with a written estimate and a realistic schedule, with colours, products, prep and protection planned out in advance — backed by a local team you can actually reach, and one that’s still here after the moving truck leaves.

Reviews for Our Pre-Move In Painting Services
LISA DORAN
“We recently moved from AB to Parksville and hired Pride Painting before moving into our new house. They did a fantastic job from repairing the walls, to painting, finishing earlier than expected. The house looks amazing and fresh. We will certainly recommend Jack and Pride Painting to all our family and friends.”
DREW STOTESBURY
“We recently bought a new home and needed the bedrooms repainted before we could move in. Robert guaranteed his crew would be in on day one and he delivered. The crew were awesome and just pleasant to be around — the job was finished quickly and looks great. Throughout it all Rob was a tremendous source of knowledge.”
ANDRE VAN VUUREN
“What an amazing team! Working with Melissa for the quote, Jack for the contract and Leon on site was so effortless and professional. We got excellent advice on paint type and colour selection and the end result is stunning. Worth mentioning that the house was left perfectly clean and ready to move in.”
PATRICIA PRATCHER
“We engaged Pride Painting to quote on a job repainting a condo including all walls, ceilings, trim, doors & frames. Robert Collins explained how to deal with a lot of the details, repairs to cracks, ensuring walls are adequately covered and dealing with different types of old paint vs new paint to ensure they adhere to each other. The work was very well done and according to the quote and the time frame as promised. The crew was very friendly and courteous. We love our new walls. Everything is fresh & clean. Pride Painting did a fabulous job and we can only highly recommend their work.”
JENNY PORTER
“Pride did a great job painting my house. They were on time, worked hard, and added extra crew to get the project done by my move-in date, which I greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a painter.”
D KINVICTORIA
“From beginning to end, the experience using Pride Painting here in Victoria was superb. Stephan came promptly to give an estimate, a few days later, Nico and Alphonso came for a full day of work. Stephan finished up the next day. Friendly, respectful and hardworking young men. And all coordinated by Rob. What a great team. My bedroom and bathroom look fresh and renewed. Thanks!”
How Much Does It Cost to Paint a House Before Moving Into It?
Painting an empty or mostly-empty home is usually more cost-efficient, since our crew spends less time moving, covering and working around furniture and belongings.
That said, price still depends on the size and condition of the home, how many colours are involved, ceiling heights and surfaces being painted, and any repairs or prep required.

Can Painting Before You Move In Save You Money?
Painting after you move in is completely possible, it’s just often more complicated and costly. Once the couches, beds, boxes and everything else arrive, there’s simply more for our crew to move, protect and work around. An empty home gives painters clear, direct access to walls, ceilings, trim, doors and closets, and lets us move through rooms more efficiently.
That efficiency is usually where the savings come from. It doesn’t mean every vacant home is automatically cheap.. the size and condition of the home, the number of colours, ceiling heights and any repairs still affect the price; but painting before you move in typically gives our crew a more efficient working environment, and that tends to show up in the final cost.

Before You Move Everything Into the House…
Picture the alternative. The movers arrive. Beds get assembled. Boxes are stacked against the walls. The television gets mounted. Life starts again — and six months later, the colours you planned to change are still there.
Not because you stopped caring. Because once you move in, every home project has to compete with normal life.
If you already know your new home needs painting, the simplest time to deal with it may be before you unpack. Send us the property information and your dates — we’ll take a look at the situation, tell you what’s realistic, and help you build a plan.
No inflated promises. No pressure to paint things that don’t need painting. Just a clear conversation about your home, your timeline, and the best way to get it done

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it cheaper to paint a house before moving in?
It can be more cost-efficient, since painters spend less time moving, covering and working around furniture. Size, condition, and scope still affect the final price.
How far in advance should I book?
As soon as your purchase is confirmed and you have rough possession and move-in dates. You don’t need your colours picked yet to start the conversation.
Can you paint just part of the house now and finish the rest later?
Yes. If the full scope can’t reasonably fit before your movers arrive, we’ll help you prioritize the areas that matter most now — bedrooms, main living spaces, or hard-to-access rooms — and plan the rest for after you’ve moved in.
What if I’m moving from out of town?
We regularly coordinate pre-move-in painting for people relocating from Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and beyond. We can often begin planning using the real-estate listing, photos and floor plans, with an on-site review once access becomes available.
Can you estimate the painting from a real-estate listing?
A real-estate listing can be very helpful for early planning — it gives us the layout, photos and visible condition of the home. Additional photos or a video walkthrough can improve accuracy, but an on-site review is usually still needed before the final scope and price are confirmed.
Can you guarantee the painting will be finished before our movers arrive?
We only commit to a completion plan after understanding your home, the scope of work and the available working time. If the entire project can’t reasonably fit within the window, we’ll tell you — and help prioritize the areas that would be most inconvenient to paint after you move in. A realistic plan is more useful than an unrealistic promise.
Should painting happen before or after new flooring?
It depends on the flooring work. If flooring is being removed, installed or refinished, we’ll coordinate the schedule with you and the flooring contractor to reduce the chance of damage, delays or repeat visits.
Can you help us choose paint colours?
Yes. If you haven’t finalized your colours yet, we can help with guidance or coordinate a complimentary colour consultation as part of the planning process. We just need those decisions made by the agreed deadline so the right paint can be ordered before work begins.
Do we have to be at the property while you’re painting?
Not necessarily. Access and communication arrangements can be set up before the project starts — for out-of-town clients, that might mean a realtor, local representative, or a lockbox. Phone calls, photos and video meetings can keep you involved without needing to be on-site for every decision.
Do you paint ceilings, trim, doors and closets?
Yes. Your project can be walls-only or a more complete repaint — we’ll lay out the options clearly in your estimate.
What happens if our possession date changes?
Let us know as soon as you’re aware. We’ll review the crew schedule and available alternatives, though new dates will depend on availability.
